While there is something of a rivalry between San Francisco and Los Angeles, this rivalry has yet to keep citizens of these cities from becoming friendly with one another. Unfortunately, these cities are far enough away that it is very difficult to make a weekend visit. For those who still wish to see a friend or significant other on a regular basis, Pismo Beach represents an incredibly ideal compromise.
The small city is located at roughly the halfway point between San Francisco and Los Angeles, ensuring that both parties have an equal drive to get to their destination. At roughly two hours for each, it is completely manageable despite the fact that there may be some complaints about getting out of Los Angeles traffic on a Friday. To be fair, Los Angeles traffic can be so infuriating that it inspires language that not even All Language Alliance, Inc., could translate, and they can translate anything.
There is plenty to do and much to see in Pismo Beach, and places like the Dolphin Bay Resort & Spa offer outstanding amenities. Of course, the beach is a must, as entire days can be spent surfing at Pismo’s famously ideal break. The pizza available at Gino’s is so delicious that even a native New Yorker will appreciate it, and the city is highly regarded for its laid-back atmosphere.
